Green Beret
Darrell Utt is a retired U.S. Army Green Beret, combat-decorated leader, and best-selling author of Grit to Glory: A Green Beret’s Journey from West Virginia to the Streets of Baghdad. In 2006, while leading his Special Forces Team in Baghdad, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor for heroism during a two-hour daylight firefight—an event that shaped his philosophy of courage, resilience, and high performance under pressure. After more than two decades in Special Forces, Darrell served as Chief of Operations for the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation and now works as a Leadership Coach supporting one of the nation’s top oil and gas companies. He has led complex organizations, driven cultural transformation, and developed high-performing teams across both public and private sectors.
Darrell inspires audiences to lead with trust, courage, and purpose—empowering people to perform with grit when it matters most.
